2013 San Luis Obispo

The Los Angeles Symphonic Winds travel to central California to perform a combined concert with the San Luis Obispo Winds Orchestra.

The San Luis Obispo Winds Orchestra, under Conductor William Johnson and Associate Conductor Jennifer Martin, is a 45 member group of wind and percussion players from San Luis Obispo and the surrounding communities.

The LA Winds traveled from it’s home base in Woodland Hills, CA on Friday morning to central California, stopping in San Luis Obispo to visit several local wineries in the area before traveling along the coast to San Simeon, home of the famous Hearst Castle, for the evening tour of “La Cuesta Encantada”.

Saturday morning found many members enjoying a great breakfast at the famous Madonna Inn before the short ride to Cuesta College for a sound check and concert. A reception hosted by the SLO Winds at the Eden Valley Winery provided members from both ensembles to meet each other and form new and lasting friendships.

A short but exciting and rewarding tour.
